From the reviews
Ellen was extremely helpful in personalizing a session out in the park, under the pines with a book club of mine. It was a group of co-workers of all different ages with no experience in the practice.
Ellen was so kindly willing to lead my two high school classes in an introductory qigong lesson this winter. Ellen is clearly passionate about sharing the benefits of connecting with our inner selves through tai chi and qigong, and she translates this passion in such a gentle, encouraging, and approachable way.
Ellen is a wonderful instructor. She has helped me be more conscious of my own movements in tai chi, and has shown our class ways to make the poses more gentle on knees and hips. She definitely has improved my practice of tai chi, and my class really benefits from her kindness and mastery of skills.
Ellen is an excellent teacher and the class is very fun and rewarding. My husband and I have been taking the group class for a year now and are looking forward to continuing for the next two years. Tai Chi is great for the body and mind!
Your first tai chi class at Tai Chi With Ellen
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
