From the reviews
My 11 year old son and I enrolled in the school a few months ago after researching several other locations. We took a introductory course to see if it was a good match for both my son and myself. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the instruction was designed to be worthwhile for both age groups.
Update: Now after about 13 or so years of training, I still continue to grow under the expert teaching of Pai Pono Li. This art truly teaches you to be a lifetime learner and always seek refinement in your technique as well as your outside life.
Unlike the instructors at several of the other martial arts schools I’d attended in the past, this is not a part-time job for Sifu Rothermel. He lives a true martial arts life, and is at the school six days a week leading all the daytime and evening classes.
I have now been with Harrisburg Kung Fu for over 5 years, having started in January 2020. The training that Sifu Rothermel provides has been exceptional. While I prefer the in-person class, since COVID he has provided online class which has allowed me to "attend"even when I am traveling.
Your first tai chi class at Harrisburg Kung Fu Center
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
