Certified instruction — reviews and the studio's own info point to a recognized tai chi program or lineage (think Tai Chi for Health / Dr. Paul Lam, the Taoist Tai Chi Society, or a named family-style teacher). If credentials matter to you, ask which program the instructor is certified in and which style they teach.

From the reviews
I am thankful for Shifu’s encouragement to explore my curiosities especially Kung fu, the tools to sustain my energy and +⚡️to face life’s everyday challenges, the discovery of our wonderful Chinese family, all the events we performed at and most off all my allies at the Wuguan who have shared their wisdom with me.
I have been training with Shifu Ed and the Fire Mountain Crew for 4 years. In the last 4 years I have learned 5 weapons forms, 2 Taiji open handed forms, 2 Gong Fu forms, and I have been pet by a Buddhist Monk after I completed a Lion Dance performance. All very cool.
The most valuable life applications and most unique martial arts training in an incredible atmosphere. After my first class I felt it - and as a student here I continue to feel this more and more each day. There's no other Shifu and school that addresses masterful principals in this way.
Energy Fitness has turbo-charged my life, well-being and creative process to a level I never dreamed possible. Conflicts weighed me down, burnout crashes were common and grit was my backup. Now I seek, grow and thrive through conflict and change, no longer fear burnout and renewable Energy is my power source.➕⚡️❗️
Your first tai chi class at The Fire Mountain School of Chinese Martial Arts and Energy Fitness
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
