From the reviews

Studying here for almost 3 years, this school is a mix of fun and discipline. As a 55 year old man, it has transformed my fitness. I love the mix of kung fu and Tai Chi balancing both the hard and soft aspects of the art.

★★★★★ — Brad, Aug 2021

I love coming here, it's such a wonderful atmosphere and everyone is very friendly including Master Sarah. I tend to have some reservations doing any class for physical activity anywhere but I've had no issue here whatsoever and have felt very welcomed. There's different classes for different levels and age groups!

★★★★★ — Erin, Aug 2021

Its an incredible class. Everyone is so friendly and the class is so fun. I joined almost 5 years ago and am still learning every day. I would highly recommend.

★★★★★ — Vinh, Mar 2021

Our whole family takes Kung Fu and Tai Chi lessons there. A very friendly place, everyone is supportive and helpful so you can advance through the arts. I highly recommend it for people of all ages. Get some exercise while learning valuable skills. The first two weeks are free so come give it a try!

Your first tai chi class at Shaolin Center of Seattle

Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.

Tai chi is gentle and low-impact, but it's still exercise, and the health notes here are general information, not medical advice. If you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them to the instructor before class, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
