From the reviews

Shifu Don is an amazing teacher. He is both thorough and very patient. Shifu truly knows what he is teaching in a thorough manner. He embraces the 13 Principles in his life and it shows. I have studied martial arts under other instructors but they were innate compared to Don.

I began Tai Chi this year with the hope that this could benefit rheumatoid arthritis. Don is a very knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic teacher. As I begin to learn this art I am amazed at the increase in strength, confidence and calmness I’m having.

Don is a great instructor! I took Tai Chi many years ago in another state but something was missing...the WHY of what I was doing. The art seems to be about slow graceful moves, but Don showed me that it's really a defence practice! His teaching style shows and explaines how each move is working against an opponent.

This is a great place to learn legitimate tai chi from someone who knows what they're talking about. Don's ability to convey traditional knowledge in an understandable way is spot on.

Your first tai chi class at New Life Kung Fu & Tai Chi

Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.

Tai chi is gentle and low-impact, but it's still exercise, and the health notes here are general information, not medical advice. If you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them to the instructor before class, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
