From the reviews
Masterson's Tai Chi School in Westville offers the best in Tai Chi instruction. Tai Chi is fast becoming the recommended form of exercise for seniors. When I started Tai Chi at age 68, I had limited tolerance for standing and walking, Fibromyalgia, and Arthritis.
I've been training here for a year now rehabbing a serious spinal injury. I was looking for a low impact way to get moving again and I found so much more. In my year with Andy I went from a size 42 to a 36, and I am moving much better than I did previously. Andy has changed my life.
I've been training here for the past 8 years, and can confidently say Andy is the best martial arts instructor and mentor I've ever had. He offers a unique approach involving body mechanics and good posture, and explains what makes a movement effective or ineffective, as opposed to simply mimicking movements.
If you asked me last year, to go too Hershey Park the answer would have been a hard no. Fast forward to last week, and there I was climbing hills and stairs for the ten roller coasters I rode. We were in the park for eight hours. It was nine months ago I started Tai Chi with Andy.
Your first tai chi class at Masterson's Tai Chi Studio
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
