From the reviews

I am a firm believer in Richard's Tai Chi and Chi Kung Class. The class emphasizes balance, breathing, and circulation (energy flow). These are all things that someone 50 years of age or older (like me) need to focus upon to maintain health and reduce stress.

Rich's class is Tai chi has saved my balance. I was falling and even have a scar under my left eyebrow. After six months in the class, I went from a grandmother who played soccer with her grandson sitting in a chair to standing up and active.

I have been in a student of Kings' Kung-Fu class on and off now since the nineties. Sifu Richard Meir-King is very knowledgable, kind and humorous, very approachable. This is a fun, work at your own pace, physical ability, non-militaristic class. It's all about self-improvement.

★★★★★ — Art, Oct 2018

I've been taking Tai Chi and Kung Fu from Richard for 8 years. He is a great instructor! Very knowledgeable in the martial arts as well as herbs and health forms! I practice Tai Chi everyday as well as my Kung Fu forms. They really improve flow and balance! I recommend Richard highly to really learn the Arts!

Your first tai chi class at King's Kung-Fu & Tai Chi

Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.

Tai chi is gentle and low-impact, but it's still exercise, and the health notes here are general information, not medical advice. If you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them to the instructor before class, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
