Certified instruction — reviews and the studio's own info point to a recognized tai chi program or lineage (think Tai Chi for Health / Dr. Paul Lam, the Taoist Tai Chi Society, or a named family-style teacher). From the reviews

Great place to learn Tai Chi. The instructors are very knowledgeable and perhaps most importantly for me, very patient. It it obvious that this school is based upon the desire to see people improve their lives through martial arts. Highly recommended and have done so personally to my friends and colleagues.

I had been looking for a place to enroll my children for martial arts instruction when a dear friend told me about this school. My children love the program and I am amazed at how much they have grown both physically and emotionally during their time here.

Indeed, the first three reviews were not by students. I've been part of this school since 1984. I took a break for 20 years, and now I'm back. The fact is that there is no better martial arts instruction out there, in my opinion.

I've been a student here for 2 years and have enjoyed it thoroughly. What I've learned has added to my life in many ways and I'm excited to continue. The instructors and owner are very respectful and have always treated me well. I would recommend this training and this school to anyone and everyone.

Your first tai chi class at Colorado Chapter-Modern Arnis

Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.

Tai chi is gentle and low-impact, but it's still exercise, and the health notes here are general information, not medical advice. If you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them to the instructor before class, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
