From the reviews

My son started 4 years ago and now he has purple sash. He attended in many tournaments and earned many medals and we believe that he owes his success to American wushu Academy and specially his teacher Sifu Juan Carlos Proano.

★★★★★ — Rozita, Jun 2016

AWA has gone above and beyond my expectations of a martial arts school. Ive been attending the school for about 2 years now and can say with confidence that I am the strongest and the most fit I have ever been.

My 11 year old started last year and after only 6 months in American Wushu Academy with SiFu we have seen amazing results. He is physically, emotionally and mentally stronger than ever. He absolutely loves it. Loves the weapons class to.

★★★★★ — Leanne, Apr 2019

Our 5 yr old son has started training at this studio for the past few months, and absolutely loves it. Aside from the camaraderie and encouragement from Sifu, the types of exercises they do at AWA fall perfectly in line with our son's physical therapy requirements.

Your first tai chi class at American Wushu Academy

Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.

Tai chi is gentle and low-impact, but it's still exercise, and the health notes here are general information, not medical advice. If you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them to the instructor before class, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
