Certified instruction — reviews and the studio's own info point to a recognized tai chi program or lineage (think Tai Chi for Health / Dr. Paul Lam, the Taoist Tai Chi Society, or a named family-style teacher). If credentials matter to you, ask which program the instructor is certified in and which style they teach.

Being a student at Wah Lum Kung Fu, HQ Orlando Florida has helped me gain confidence, not just in daily life but in my ability to go beyond my physical fitness levels.I have become a well balanced human being both physically and mentally, I feel grounded, as Kung Fu literally means “Hard work”. Yes!
I started at the Wah Lum Temple over a year ago at the age of 61, searching for an exercise program I could continue throughout my life. I’ve definitely found that through their traditional Tai Chi program I am already experiencing improved balance, posture and strength, naturally I wish I had started sooner.
We recently had Wah Lum Temple perform a Lion Dance for a private New Year's celebration. They exceeded all expectations and were the hightlight of our party. The children were so excited to see the amazing performance and hear the musicians. Sifu Mimi Chan was very easy to work with and responsive to our needs.
My teen and I did a tour of the Tau Chi class. The instructor is patient in teaching the steps. Relaxing music playing in a large room with open doors. Friendly front desk staff and teachers. Highly recommend during this pandemic if you need to find a way to relax or heal.
Your first tai chi class at Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Temple Orlando
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
