Certified instruction — reviews and the studio's own info point to a recognized tai chi program or lineage (think Tai Chi for Health / Dr. Paul Lam, the Taoist Tai Chi Society, or a named family-style teacher). If credentials matter to you, ask which program the instructor is certified in and which style they teach.

From the reviews
This seems like a great place for learning kung-fu so far. My almost 6 year old daughter just started and I like it a lot so far. It's just fast paced enough for the kids not to be bored but not so fast that they can't keep up. It also requires memory for routines which is good.
My name is Mia, and this is me at 11 year's old practicing Wushu Kung-Fu which I've researched is a Shaolin Kung-Fu discipline traditionally boy/male-exclusive; however, though faced with severe discrimination regarding lesbian/bisexual shaming and censorship, Sifu Sam Zhen raised my like a 3rd parent when I signed up…
My daughter has been coming here for many years, and just last year completed her black belt. The program is really great, but as a busy family I think the fact that you can choose when to come and they have so many classes a week is the best.
As a first time adult student, I didn’t know what to expect. First, there are not many adult students right now which I don’t mind. I am the oldest kid in every class. I’m having a blast and learning a ton. The owner Sam is great and welcoming. The other Sifus are young, very knowledgeable and great teachers.
Your first tai chi class at USA Kung Fu Studio
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
