“We have been bringing our kids here for years, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, great family environment, highly recommend!”
From the reviews
Mine has been a very positive learning experience at Northeastern Martial Arts. I have studied Karate, JuJitsu , and Tai Chi there along with my wife and children who have studied as well.
The staff is amazing here. Our daughter has been attending classes for about 9 months and it’s the only thing she has enjoyed this long! The teachers run a great kids class. They not only teach defense but also when it’s appropriate to use it.
Long-term update: We've become good friends with the senseis and shihan. It's been a great experience not only seeing our family rank up but also other families. The monthly "parents' night out" Friday evening events are a great outlet for kids and allow parents 3 hours of freedom for errands/dates/etc.
Highly recommended NEMA! My son (7 years old) has been attending NEMA for almost a year now and is still loving it. He loves everything about this institute, especially his Senseis – Matt and Aaron - as they create such a fun learning experience for him.
Your first tai chi class at Northeastern Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
