Certified instruction — reviews and the studio's own info point to a recognized tai chi program or lineage (think Tai Chi for Health / Dr. Paul Lam, the Taoist Tai Chi Society, or a named family-style teacher). From the reviews
Truly authentic place to learn not only Kungfu but also the history and philosophy around it. Sifu Cruz has decades of experience and is very generous in sharing them. Teachers are black sashes, not some students like in other places.
I took Kenpo when I was younger and wanted to get back into it, but couldn't find a school on Cape that seemed like a good fit. I did a little research and came across USA Kung Fu Academy. I checked out the website and really liked the look and feel of the school and it seemed like an inviting and friendly atmosphere.
I have started my journey on USA Kung Fu Academy a year ago, and even though I'm still a Kung Fu baby, I have to say that I have had a wonderful experience so far. Sifu Cruz really knows his stuff and makes a point of not only teaching the discipline, but also its applications for self defense.
A huge positive place not just for family and friends to learn martial arts but to learn impeccable, coordination for every day for every day use. Sifu Cruz and the staff are the best instructors on Cape Cod.
Your first tai chi class at Cape Cods, USA Kung-Fu Academy - Martial Arts and Tai Chi since 1992
Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.
