I had over a decade of experience with traditional kung fu growing up, so finding a new kung fu school was one of my highest priorities when I moved to the Bay Area. I am very happy that I found AllStar Kung Fu.

Our daughter has been taking lessons here for the last 6 years now. We've seen a lot. The masters are wonderful. They strike a great balance between just having fun and focused, disciplined purpose. They're great with kids who need discipline. And, they're great with kids who don't.

My two kids have been going to this place for over a year. Both of them love to go to lessons here. Master Jack and Master Lee are great with kids: very patient and fun. My older one used to be very shy but he became very open to other kids since he went to All Star Kungfu.

I was so impressed by the intensity of the class activities and the cool kungfu moves from the students during my first visit. To be honest, I was a bit worried that my kids would be scared away. Thanks to the teachers, they are professional kungfu masters, very patient, and know how to help young ones start the class.

Your first tai chi class at AllStar Kung Fu

Nervous about walking into a tai chi class for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good instructors expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a gentle warm-up, then learning a few slow movements of the form, step by step — no pressure to get it perfect, and you can rest or sit whenever you need to. What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing you can move in, and flat, flexible shoes (some studios practice in socks or bare feet). What to bring: water, and that's about it — there's no equipment to buy. Arrive a few minutes early to say hello to the instructor and mention it's your first class. It comes together faster than you'd think — most people feel far more at ease by their second or third visit.

Tai chi is gentle and low-impact, but it's still exercise, and the health notes here are general information, not medical advice. If you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them to the instructor before class, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
